High-Volume, High-Throughput Label Applicator Print Engines

The SATO S84 Series is the company’s latest generation of OEM print engines, with new features and benefits for automated print-and-apply labeling systems. These models offer direct thermal and thermal transfer printing, with a direct-thermal-only option for cost savings. All models have a 4.09-inch maximum print width. They feature an increased ribbon roll capacity and a bidirectional ribbon drive, and there is a ribbon-saving option for economical operation when labels have large non-printed areas. A state-of-the-art 32-bit RISC microprocessor and 16 MB of RAM give these print engines the power to handle a wide range of labeling needs for manufacturing, automotive, healthcare, food service, and transportation and logistics.

Superior Serviceability

There are three models in the SATO S84 Series: the S8408 has a standard print resolution of 203 dpi; the S8412 has a 305 dpi resolution; and the S8424 has a 609 dpi resolution. One special feature of this series, however, is that all models have the capacity for field-configurable print resolution changes — an industry first. Print speeds are as high as16 inches per second, depending on resolution. Maintenance is designed to be as quick and efficient as possible to minimize label applicator downtime. The platen and feed rollers can be accessed without removing the print engine from the label applicator, enabling easy replacement. Changing printheads is simple and tool-less with One-Touch release.
